Nintendo Wii U Emulators

1) Cemu

Usability: not intended for general use yet.

Cemu, the first working Nintendo Wii U emulator, was publicly released after only 3-year lifespan of the console. Exzap, the developer behind this project, started this project in 2013. The Wii U emulator only runs on Windows x64 for now. Other platforms will be supported in the future. The emulator has an internal resolution of 1920×1080. It can run encrypted Wii U images (WUD) and RPX/RPL files.

System Requirements

  • Windows 7 (x64) or above
  • OpenGL 4.0 (4.5 is used if available)
  • RAM: 4 GB minimum, 6 GB or more recommended
  • Graphic cards
    • NVIDIA: Runs as expected on most recent driver.
    • AMD: Runs as expected on most recent driver.
    • Intel: Not officially supported. Heavy visual glitches.

Framerate is stable with minor issues on most popular games.

2) Decaf

Decaf is an open source Wii U emulator. It is still called a researching project and is not usable for general yet.

  • Windows (64 bit) with Visual Studio 2015 Update 3
  • Linux with a modern C++14 friendly compiler
  • OpenGL 4.5
